Dimitris Nalbantis is a visionary. He was born in 1957 in Municipality of Didimotichon in Northern Greece, and he studied architectural design in Thessaloniki. His imaginative nature has been recruited to serve various techniques and convey diverse messages. He travels the history of art on a brush from the age of two, enriching his technical expertise shifting easily from oil, water-color, dry pastel, chalk, egg tempera, glue and lacquer.

In a brief memoir he studies Delacroix at 6 years of age, and at eleven he becomes the apprentice to painter Niko Tziotis. His first atelier becomes reality at age thirteen copying works of Rembrandt, Raphael, Veronese, and Renoir. At 15 he dedicates himself to nature and discovers impressionism, and his first exhibition is a fact, while at the age of 20 he immerses himself in surrealism and neorealism. At the more mature age of 35 his work presents different view in content, form, theme and style as he works on expressionism, employing few colors, and hard abstract forms.

In the new millenium his value was recognized by American cristics, following his participation in the global art exhibition under the auspices of the UN. He is selected among 108 Greek painters to represent Greece. The UN award him and he is chosen from 68 countries to represent Europe  as his painting "Memories" is reproduced as the UN postage stamp. His paintings can be found in institutions, museums and collections internationally, while honorary exhibitions have been organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Public Works, Environment and Town Planning.

Lately, in 2016 , Edirne's Mayor Mr. Recep Gurkan and the Greek consul Paraskevi Charitidou organized a big exhibition, "Edirne, 4 seasons". Dimitris Nalbandis became the first Greek honorary citizen of Edirne, Turkey.

His vision on saving the environment and dedicating his work to environmental awarness acquires a universal language through symbols characterized by such potency and vigor, that can be communicated and translated with strength and simplicity. Symbol of choice in his new upcoming work is the "Green Man" conveying concern and optimism. His proposal aspires to unite the mastery of renaissance with contemporary times, and painting with sculpture.





In 2000 the United Nations chose Dimitris Nalbandis' Remembrance to be their European stamp in an exclusive collection of six UN stamps. The other artists were from the USA, Japan, Lebanon, Kenya and the Philippines. These were selected from 22,500 artists who participated in the Winsor & Newton 'Our World In the Year 2000' competition. The exhibition of the winning entries from the 51 countries took place at the UN building in New York. His name is now included in the list of artists such as Salvador Dali, Picasso, Henry Moore, Rafael, Vermeer Leger, Andrew Wyeth, Hans Erni and Leroy Nieman, all of whom have had their work issued as UN stamps.



















Dimitris Nalbandis is the first Greek artist to have his work chosen for a UN stamp, an achievement recognised by the then Minister for Foreign Affairs in Greece, George Papandreou, later to become the Prime Minister, who stated the distinction does credit to both the artist and to Greece.

2004 Appointed as visiting Lecturer at the Democritus University of Thrace in the Department of Architectural Engineering
-2011 Awarded by the Municipality of Filothei- Psychico for his 40-year course as an artist.
-2011 Awarded the first prize in the group exhibition entitled “20x20, with an original portrait for celebrated actor Kostas Voutsas introducing a new way of portrait: the “polyportrait”.(20 Contemporary Greek Artists paint the portraits of 20 extraordinary Men", Exhibition organized by VIMAMEN and Lambrakis Press in the Cultural Center "Athinais" by Takis Mavrotas).

-Διδάσκει στο Δημοκρίτειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θράκης στο τμήμα Αρχιτεκτονικών Μηχανικών
-Έργα του βρίσκονται στο κτήριο του ΟΗΕ στη ΝΕΑ ΥΟΡΚΗ, σε μουσεία και συλλογές εντός και εκτός Ελλάδος.

2009 Ατομική έκθεση με τίτλο «Παλαιά Κωνσταντινούπολη και Παλαιά Θεσσαλονίκη» στο Πνευματικό Κέντρο της Τράπεζας Πειραιώς στην Θεσσαλονίκη
2010 Δημιουργεί εξ ολοκλήρου την πρώτη πλατεία εμπνευσμένη από τον πολιτισμό των Ποντίων στον Δήμο Χρυσούπολης
-Οργανώνει και είναι χορηγός της μοναδικής έκθεσης με τίτλο «1000 παιδιά της Πρωτοβάθμιας Εκπαίδευσης του Νομού Έβρου ζωγραφίζουν το Περιβάλλον». Τα έργα εκτέθηκαν στην Πινακοθήκη Διδυμοτείχου, στο Thraki Palace στην Αλεξανδρούπολη και στο πολιτιστικό κέντρο Τεχνόπολις στο Γκάζι υπό την αιγίδα του αντιδημάρχου Αθήνας κ. Νίκου Βαφειάδη και της ΕΡΤ.

-Ομαδική Έκθεση στο Τσιραχάν στα πλαίσια του εορτασμού «Κωνσταντινούπολη - Πολιτιστική Πρωτεύουσα 2010» με θέμα «Βόσπορος». Είναι ο μοναδικός ξένος που έχει εκθέσει τα έργα του στο παλάτι του σουλτάνου Αμπντούλ Αζίζ.
